The South Burnett is arguably one of the most beautiful places in Queensland. Located a short drive from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast where forests, farmland, creeks and the beautiful green hilly countryside is common. The area is filled with cultural and natural heritage attractions, as well as a ton of places to try the local food. You can spend your weekend camping and fishing, or attend one of the many local markets, or you can time your visit to enjoy one of the popular events held here.
Boonara Homestead is a heritage listed original homestead located 15 kms North of Goomeri. Built in 1862 and believed to be the last of its king in Queensland, this Grand Colonial home has been restored to the gorgeous building it once was. It is perched on a flowing array of green hillsides close to Boonara Creek with gardens you that can make you forget who and where you are.
Our own experience at Boonara Homestead B&B has included functions such as weddings and christenings, which have been absolutely gorgeous.
Your stay at the B&B includes romantic rooms, gourmet meals available on request, peaceful walks, wine tasting, and an open fireplace perfect for the cold winter days. The heritage bookshop located on site is a great place to grab a souvenir. You can also head in to the town of Goomeri to visit the quaint country stores, the town memorial clock, or head to the golf course for a game or two. You can also try one of the tasty cafes in Goomeri, or stop in at Cheeseworld and the lolly shop for a tasty treat. Goomeri is definitely a great place to stop on your drive along the Burnett Highway.Note: Boonara Homestead are currently not taking any bookings.
